Meridian Wellness

Our body is like a garden. It needs love, nourishment, tending, and rest, to flourish. We flow through the seasons year after year, rarely giving thought to the natural course of things. The balance of the heavens, clouds, mountains, rains, and rivers are all part of nature's giving and taking, coming and going; much like the flow of blood, energy, and cell regeneration in our bodies.

Our physical body cycles through its own seasons. And with each new season comes a little dying, resting, rebirth, and growth. As a child, did you ever skin your knee and watch in wonder as the wound magically went through its healing cycle? Even more amazing was the seed that pushed its way through the moistened earth and turned into a tomato. It's all part of living, growing, and tending in nature's time and cycles.

In the natural world, disasters throw things out of balance, just like fever, pneumonia or cancer can wreak havoc on our body. Did you ever notice how nature begins healing? It's much like when as children we watched in amazement as our skinned knee repaired itself. Healing is part of nature's design, and although outside help sometimes moves the healing along, nature finds a way of regenerating life. Our body is the same. It is our own inner ability to heal that does all the work.

Like rivers flowing through the landscape, MERIDIANS are channels for blood and chi (qi/prana) that flow over the surface of our body. They form a network that connects all our organs and tissues. Like a river that transports nutrients and food to sustain life in the environment through which it flows, the meridians carry supply of vital energy to ensure the good health of our organs throughout our body.

When a blockage occurs in any of our meridians, there will be a disruption to the flow and balance within our body system and thus we become ill. Therefore, it's wise to practise preventive healthcare by taking care of our meridians to prevent any traffic jam along them.

Thanks to over 2500 years of methodical observation and empirical experience by the Chinese, and today's modern life science, we now know exactly how to care for our meridians and therefore our health. Meridian 101 is an easy-to-learn method to do just that.

Meridian 101 will teach you how to stimulate selected acupressure points along major meridians to achieve tiptop balance, alleviate a wide range of everyday aches and pains, allergies, poor circulation, sleeplessness, and other chronic complaints. Once you've acquired the acupressure massage and guasha know-how, you can apply Meridian 101 in a D.I.Y. manner for the rest of your life.

Since 2007, we have been sharing passionately our method with over a thousand people in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Philippines, Indonesia and even India. We are happy to have contributed not only to the health and fitness of these participants, but also through them to touch the lives of their families members and friends. Many have enhanced their well-being and cultivated simple but highly effective preventive healthcare routines using Meridian 101.

Guasha 刮痧Meridian Guasha

Guasha is a healing technique based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, and it has been practised for thousands of years. Guasha stimulates the flow of qi and blood within our meridian systems and it is done through the use of a guasha board pressing on the skin along meridian lines. It may result in the appearance of small red patches.

"Gua" means to scrape or rub. "Sha" means sand particle-like reddish patches on skin. Sha is the term used to describe blood in the subcutaneous tissue before and after it is raised as a small red bump. The Sha bump should fade in 2-4 days.

What are the benefits of Guasha?

Guasha can be used to prevent and treat diseases and strengthen the body. It is especially helpful for pain relief for head, neck, shoulder, joint and back pain, migraine, PMS, osteoporosis, rheumatism. It is also able to provide relief for various ailments caused by functional disharmony of the internal organs.

Guasha tunes up our own internal self-healing mechanism, stimulates the immune system, detoxifies and de-acidifies, promotes the circulation, regulates functions and organs, removes blockades and pain, revitalizes and regenerates, diminishes stress, fatigue and burn-out, rebalances emotions, relaxes and promotes a healthy state of being.

Guasha treatment invloves the use of specially formulated herbal essential oils on a particular area of the skin before "scraping" the area with a guasha scraping board. The herbal essential oil will lubricate the scraping and supply critical herbal ingredients to boost the therapeutic effects on the meridians. The guasha scraping board is usually made of buffalo horn or jade. Where there are blockages (meaning where disorders are hidden), red spots appear under the skin. There is no pain felt either during nor after the treatment. On the contrary, relief is felt almost instantly. The red spots will fully disappear within 3 to 7 days.
